Ann, Fran, Mary Ann

Ann, Fran, Mary Ann
is a play, shaped like a mirror, exploring perception and reflection. Two married neuroscientists, Ann and Mary Ann, share a lab but their studies could not be more different. Mary Ann, a former atheist, has become obsessed with God and has built a “God Helmet.” Ann, interested in the visual cortex and memory, studies Capgras Syndrome. When Ann decides to study Fran, an atypical subject, she jeopardizes her work and her marriage. The lab becomes a site of unethical scientific practice, violence, and betrayal. I Will Be Gone

Seventeen-year-old Penelope goes to live with her Aunt Josephine in a small town in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains after her mom dies. Everyone in this small town—built right next door to a ghost town—is haunted by something or someone, and no one knows how to behave. Filled with apparitions, earthquakes, and strange attempts to mourn, this play explores the beauty and awkwardness of living with the knowledge that everything ends.
